Little Sisters - "Try So Hard"

Since RAG is still relatively new, a lot of these artist are my friends and family. All though that shouldn't diminish their talent. I just happen to be lucky enough to know a lot of talented people.

In this case though, this is a band, Little Sisters, made up of my brother Derek, who you've all seen before here and my sister Erika (Chloe Hector is in the band as well, hence the name Little SisterS, but she wasn't present for this recording).

So as you can assume a band made up of my brother and sister is rather close to my heart. Again though, I don't want to take away from their talent. This is a great song that we recorded at Erika's place while a few friends where hanging out. We cooked out and ate some food in the backyard a few hours before. Derek had asked me to bring my camera over and we ended up doing this.

Now normally with Run and Gun I try to do things in one take because it catches the spontaneity of the moment and in most cases that is usually where the best stuff comes from. However doing things in "one take" is not a rule of any kind. Sometimes when you're working on a performance, and these are performances, you need to refine it. So in this case I think I made them play the song at least four or five time before we got a take that worked. And it was worth it. I think we created a unique little video that I hope you'll enjoy.

Bob Besser - "Father's Daughter"

Well it took a bit for me to get this together, but here's the second song we filmed in Neosho. Almost four months ago!

Bob got over his fear of playing on the deserted square and we filmed this nice little tune. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Bob Besser - "Old Standards"

What to say about Bob Besser, he lives down in the bottom corner of Missouri which I imagine is a lot like the bottom end of a beer can, nothing but stale booze and a lot of backwash.

But if there's one crisp refreshing drop left, it's Bob. I went down to Neosho a little over a month ago and filmed this with Bob at about 5 a.m. while we were killing time waiting to drive me back to Kansas City to catch a train back to Chicago. Neosho is one of those little towns that shuts down after about 2 a.m. when the bars close and turns into a creepy yet pretty little ghost town. We tried to take advantage of that vibe with this song (and one more to follow). I think we got what we were looking for.

Bob doesn't have much out there to listen to other than this, but if you enjoy this you should let him know we'd like to hear more because he's a talented individual and the world deserves more music like this.

Hollus - "The River"

I've known the Hollus boys for quite some time now, so it was only a matter of time before this happened. I live with Jamison and Mike happened to be over for a something or other as he does from time to time and low and behold should Matt show and suddenly we've got 3/5 of the band. So I grabbed the cam and this is what happened. My apologies to Katie and Colin for not including you on this, but I have a feeling there will be more to come.

Also special thanks to Todd from Steepwater for filling in. (Maybe we'll get your own RAG show soon?)

You can listen to more Hollus here: hollus.net and myspace.com/hollusmusic

Derek Porter - "Trance Train"

This is the second song Derek and I got to the other day. This has always been one of my favorites of his. I hope you like it too. It took Derek a couple of takes to get this one, it was getting cold and so were his fingers. We finally got it, but its too bad because on the take just before the last I got an amazing shot with the train going by in the background. Oh well, it still turned out good.

Again, you can hear more Derek Porter @ myspace.com/piercingmusic

Stay tuned for more!

Derek Porter - "I Forgot"

Derek was kind enough to be the first Run and Gun victim with his song "I Forgot" off some album I'm sure will be coming out soon. He lives in Pilsen so we found this nice little underpass that was hardly used but had great acoustics, as these things do, and went for it. I don't have any decent mics for this camera yet, but the on board mic did an amazing job for what it is. There will definitely be more from Derek in the future.
